Arctic Import has been selected as the supplier for a major school project in Nuuk

A brand-new school is under construction in Nuuk, and we are proud to have been awarded the contract to supply furniture and other equipment for the school. This represents the most significant order for furniture and equipment for a primary school in Greenland to date.

We are reinforcing our position as leading partner for both private and public sectors in Greenland. Our involvement with Atuarfik Inussuk, the new school in Nuuk, marks a significant step in this direction. This contemporary school, covering a gross area of 16,500 square meters, aims to replace the older schools in the city and will feature small learning spaces that stimulate academic excellence and challenge conventional teaching approaches. The interior design and furniture are key to bringing this vision to life.

- The school is set to provide an educational experience where creating innovative learning environments is a priority. This demands high-quality school furniture, and we are excited to be supplying these in collaboration with our partner, Lekolar, says Project Manager Kasper L. Andersen.

The new school emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and interdisciplinary learning, making it crucial for the furnishings and learning environments to support these goals and motivate the students, who have also been involved in the decision-making process. The choice of furniture supports these values and forms the framework for small and secure communities. Our partnership with Lekolar's experienced interior architects has been crucial in creating these inspiring and vibrant learning environments.

Sales Manager Klaus Sindberg from Lekolar also emphasizes the strong collaboration between Arctic Import and Lekolar.

"We have a really good partnership and an open and close dialogue. This is essential when embarking on a large project, such as the new school in Nuuk. The strength of our collaboration is that we each contribute with our core competencies. Arctic Import are experts in logistics, and we are experts in learning environments, so together we are very strong. We manage to integrate everything into a higher unity to the satisfaction of the customer, and I am convinced that everyone will be pleased with the new school," says Klaus Sindberg.

Beyond being a state-of-the-art school, the new building will also serve as a community hub for the city's residents, as it will accommodate a variety of activities. Local associations will also have access to use the school's facilities.

Delivering the many pieces of furniture to the school is a quite extensive logistical challenge. Arctic Import oversees project management, quality control, and all the details of product packaging to ensure that they prevent damage during transport. Around 20 large 40-foot containers are scheduled to be shipped from Denmark to Greenland starting in early March, with a significant task ahead in assembling the numerous pieces of furniture.

- It is a complex logistical puzzle to coordinate the delivery of such a large quantity of furniture, and that's why we are involved from start to finish. Logistics is one of our core competencies, says Kasper L. Andersen.

Arctic Import has also supplied furniture, play equipment, and other items for Nuuk's new daycare center, which opened in December 2023.
