Arctic Import reinvests North Atlantic profits from the 2024 financial year into Greenlandic growth
Arctic Import A/S today presents its 2024 annual financial report, showing positive development across the Group's activities in the North Atlantic, resulting in bottom-line growth. The Group is headquartered in Nuuk, Greenland, with a Danish office in Aalborg, and operations and facilities in the Faroe Islands and Iceland. The Board of Directors and management are pleased with the results and are excited to reinvest the profits — generated through trade across the entire North Atlantic - into the continued development of the company in Greenland.
New headquarters under construction in Nuuk
A new headquarters is currently under construction in Nuuk and is expected to be inaugurated around the turn of 2026. The project is part of the Group’s strategic focus on strengthening its local presence in Greenland.
“We operate in and with the entire North Atlantic region, but at our core, we are a Greenlandic company. That’s why it is important to us that our profits are reinvested in Greenland, allowing us to contribute positively to the society we are an active part of,” explains Arctic Import CEO Thomas Hjort. He adds: “We have been part of the North Atlantic community for over 45 years - and we intend to be here for the next 45 years as well. We are deeply rooted in the societies we trade with and take our social responsibility seriously. This year’s results allow us to invest directly in Greenland - not just in great facilities for the company, but in people and communities.”
With the new headquarters,
Arctic Import will be able to expand warehouse capacity, create more local jobs and apprenticeship opportunities, and establish a more stable logistics chain from Europe and North America through Nuuk and out to other Greenlandic communities. At the same time, the company will be well-positioned to support Greenland’s growing tourism industry.
Profit growth compared to 2023
The Group's financial statement for 2024 shows a profit of DKK 13.9 million, up from DKK 12.2 million in 2023. As of December 31, 2024, the Group's equity stands at DKK 48 million.
Throughout 2024, Arctic Import has worked strategically to strengthen its presence in the North Atlantic, including expanding trade relations with Iceland.
“Our strong annual results are primarily driven by significant growth in trade with both Iceland and Greenland, where we have expanded partnerships and created new opportunities in the region. This positive development is the result of long-term strategic work and strong partnerships, which we will continue to nurture moving forward,” says Thomas Hjort.
