Arctic Import Delivers a Custom-Designed Kitchen to the World’s Northernmost 4-Star Hotel
Hotel Arctic in Ilulissat is famous not only for its breathtaking location near the Ilulissat Icefjord but also for offering a world-class dining experience. When the hotel set out to install a new kitchen for its ambitious front-cooking concept, Arctic Import was selected to ensure a smooth and seamless delivery.
The kitchen was designed in close collaboration between Arctic Import's trusted partner, Bent Brandt, and Hotel Arctic. It was essential that the kitchen met the hotel's high standards while fulfilling all functional requirements. The kitchen is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including induction cooktops, convection ovens, and refrigeration sections, all beautifully integrated into a stylish design featuring black powder-coated surfaces and brass details. The front-cooking concept allows guests to watch as Greenlandic ingredients are prepared and served right before their eyes, so the kitchen was meticulously arranged to combine operational efficiency with visual appeal for this live culinary experience.
A complex logistics operation executed with precision
Arctic Import handled the logistics to ensure the kitchen arrived safely in Ilulissat -a task that demanded careful planning, as the delivery had to be completed before the sea ice formed. To ensure everything arrived in pristine condition, we worked closely with our partners Bent Brandt and Blue Water Shipping. The hotel engaged skilled contractors and a highly experienced crane operator, who expertly lifted the fully welded kitchen units into place on the hotel’s first floor.
The kitchen components were securely packaged in wooden crates and shipped in containers to protect them from damage during transport - a delicate operation that required the utmost precision and care.
With its stunning location by the Ilulissat Icefjord and the upcoming opening of a new international airport in 2027, Hotel Arctic is set to welcome even more guests from around the world. The new kitchen now serves as a centerpiece of the hotel’s overall guest experience, and at Arctic Import, we are proud to have contributed to making this vision a reality.
