Extensive furniture and fixtures delivery for a modern school in Oyrarbakkur, Faroe Islands.

At Arctic Import, we understand what it takes to create a contemporary and modern interior. This was once again proven when we were tasked with supplying new furniture and fixtures for the newly built and renovated school in the picturesque village of Oyrarbakki on the Faroe Islands.

Located on the Faroe Islands' second-largest island, Eysturoy, is the village of Oyrarbakki. Like the rest of the archipelago in the far north, this village is also experiencing strong economic development. Consequently, the Sunda Municipality decided to invest in the development of the local school. The school, named "Skúlin við Streymin", was expanded with a new cafeteria, sports hall, and much more, ensuring its continued role as a hub for children and youth.

As part of the renovation, numerous new rooms needed to be furnished with new furniture and fixtures, and in the same process, the older part of the school also received an update with new furniture. Arctic Import secured both contracts, taking on the responsibility of supplying tables and chairs for every classroom, as well as the new cafeteria area. Furthermore, Arctic Import delivered furniture for the school's library, lounge furniture, and special benches for various areas.

"We won the bid because we could offer the best balance between price and quality. For instance, all the furniture had to be tested and approved for educational use, and there also needed to be a cohesive aesthetic design line", explains Project Manager at Arctic Import, Kasper Lykkegaard Andersen.

He shares that throughout the bidding process, Arctic Import maintained a productive and ongoing dialogue with Sunda Municipality as well as the Faroese architectural firm, Brim Arkitekter, who designed the school's new extension.

"We particularly collaborated with the architects on the interior design, proposing solutions that align closely with the school's architecture. It's a truly beautiful school, inspired by the surrounding village's magnificent nature, and we wanted this to be reflected in the furniture as well", elaborates Kasper Lykkegaard Andersen.
