Curtain solutions that make a difference every day
For restaurateurs Elise Dahlstrøm and Rikke Pedersen, curtains have become an essential part of both the interior design and the day-to-day operation of their restaurants.
It all started with Restaurant Nivi, where Arctic Import worked closely with the restaurant team and KHR Architecture to develop a curtain solution that enhances functionality, creates atmosphere, and helps define the different spaces within the venue.
The results were so positive that curtains also became an integral part of the subsequent refurbishment of Charoen Porn.
At Restaurant Nivi, the objective was not only to provide protection from the sun, but also to create flexible spaces, manage daylight, and enhance the overall guest experience.
The solution included a range of curtain applications, such as room dividers, façade curtains, solar shading, curtain concealment systems, and hygiene screens for the kitchen. Each solution serves its own purpose, but together they form a cohesive whole, with the curtains contributing to functionality, comfort, and atmosphere throughout the restaurant.
Curtains were not part of the original vision for Restaurant Nivi. However, through ongoing dialogue between Arctic Import’s interior design consultant, the restaurant team, and the architect, they were incorporated into the project. Today, they have become one of the most frequently used and valued elements of the restaurant’s interior.
The curtains make it possible to divide the space without closing it off. Sheer fabrics create light and flexible partitions, while heavier curtains along the façades provide effective solar shading and help maintain a comfortable indoor environment.
Across both restaurants, the curtains have become an integral part of the design, creating flexible environments, enhancing the quality of light, and shaping the atmosphere that welcomes guests as they enter.
